Get Out of Your Zone

by Justin Lukasavige on January 8, 2010

Isn’t it true in life that we tend to get in a zone?  We find a rhythm in life and do the same things over and over again.  It’s human nature.

I’m all for finding your strengths and working feverishly to get even better at them.  But what if you have strengths you’re not yet aware of?

I had never stepped into a radio studio until the day I hosted my first radio show.  Turns out I’m pretty good at it (I think).  But if I hadn’t stepped out of my zone I never would have known I have a strength for hosting a talk radio show.  Same with public speaking; 8 years ago you couldn’t have paid me all the money in the world to talk to a group.  On average I now address 15 groups each year and I love it.

Have you pushed yourself out of the zone to find a hidden strength?  In what areas do you need to take some risks?
