It was Worth it

by Justin Lukasavige on January 30, 2010

For the past two years I haven’t had a single day where I haven’t had to rush out at a certain time…until today.

With the exception of holidays and being out of town, I haven’t had a single break.  I’m in the office Monday – Friday.  Saturday morning I host Past Due: Radio and Sunday we rush out for church.

But that all changed today.

I stepped back from from hosting Past Due: Radio and left it in the very good hands of Derek while I launched a new show called Coach Radio.  It helps that we’re now hosting the shows live from our office.  Today was my first experience in two years where I didn’t leave the house once!  It was great.

Did my family miss me during those two year?  Of course they did, and I missed them.  But it was worth it.  I worked like crazy over the past two years in radio and I have a lot to show for it.  My wife and I agreed to this when I launched the show, but even though I’ve taken off on Friday afternoons, it still felt like I was gone a lot.

I talked with a guy last week who couldn’t find the time to build the business he’s passionate about, with his family and other commitments taking most of his time.

I can’t make the decision for anyone.  Only you can determine your priorities.  Sacrifice now to win long term, or be exactly where you are now in five years.

Where do you want to be in five years?  What are you willing to do in order to get there?

I'll just bet you had set goals in order to stay motivated to accomplish all that you have. What would it have been like if you went into this with NO goals? What are the chances that you would be where you are today if you had not set those goals? How important is being able to see the light at the end of the tunnel? Justin, it's obvious that you know the answers to these questions, but how many of your readers understand this? Take into consideration what the author here is teaching, he's been there and do that. Keep rockin it J.L.!

I'm so excited you could enjoy a Saturday with your family, and many more to come! Surely, PastDueRadio.com is under control.

Thanks for practicing what you preach, Justin, which is to look at each new year and find a few things to discontinue. We can't expect ourselves to just add more and more logs on the pile – some logs have to fall off so we can move on to new territory.

This may be a little off subject but this I have to say (darn conviction!):

I don't believe there is a limit to success when your whole heart is in what you do. Others can sense and pick up on that. That's why you're doing as well as you are. Never leave your heart and passion out of this.

And I thank you both, Justin and Derek, for setting a huge example to the world of just how powerful a business team on a real mission to make a positive difference can be. You guys are killing it! GO!!!

Thanks for your positive feedback, Archie! We don't ever want anyone thinking we're hypocrites by not practicing what we preach :-) I find that life is a lot better lived when lived on purpose. We do everything with intention, always looking to refine and strip away the fluff that gets in the way of us delivering effective content.

Plus, Justin and I balance each other out pretty well; I mean, without him I wouldn't even be on Twitter and without me he wouldn't have a spell checker for the newsletter!
