UR Sp Mtrs

I was informed rather abruptly by Derek that spelling matters, even if it’s on twitter.  And you know what?  I agree.

What do you think? Does spelling matter? Does it turn you off when you run into misspellings?

Their is know dout about it. I was asked to read a book at work last week about great presentations and the grammar and spelling was so poor, I couldn't get through it. I'm looking forward to the meeting with the author and will provide honest feedback to assist him.

No doubt about that Andrew. I've been completely turned off to at least one author because of it.

Good points! In a way, the whole 140 character limitation forces you to sharpen your writing skills with pithy, yet engaging comments. As a result, a new language of abbreviated and condensed words seem to be the accepted norm within the Tweeting community. In a world where number of followers equals credibility, perhaps spelling doesn't matter. BTW, 292 characters b4 this line.

I mostly agree Rick, but I don't necessarily believe that number of followers equals credibility. Overall I know what you're saying but there are quite a few accounts floating on twitter with programs mining followers. When I see someone with 800 followers but they're following 3,200 people I leave the page in a hurry. That's the opposite of real relationships to me.

Great point, Andrew. I've read some stuff that has an awesome presentation – nice binder or notebook, slide show, etc. – and everywhere you turn there's an error. Now, I'm not going to say that people who have typos on their stuff are dumb or unable to help. But I am going to say that if that's how they pay attention to detail, they probably won't be helping me.
